This Gin Sour recipe is a Mediterranean take on an absolute classic gin cocktail.
We've swapped out the conventional London Dry Gin that you'd find in a Gin Sour and replaced it with our Mediterranean-inspired MERCATO Gin which is distilled using fresh-cut rosemary, thyme and basil.
If you want to make a unique cocktail designed to impress, definitely give this a try at home!
Pre-chill your glass. We suggest a fancy cocktail glass like a 'pony coupette' but you can easily use a 'rocks' glass at home.
Get your cocktail shaker (or a glass jar with lid).
Add 50ml (i.e. a double shot) MERCATO Mediterranean Gin
Add 25ml fresh lemon juice.
Add 15ml sugar syrup.
Add an egg white. If you're a bit put off by this, an egg white is there to tie up and bind all the flavours together and give the cocktail a nice silky texture. Flavour wise it's neutral.
Close your shaker and give it a DRY shake (i.e. NO ICE).
Now we've broken into the cocktail, you can now add ice cubes to your shaker.
Give it all a firm SHAKE for 5-10 seconds.
Now, double-strain the liquid into your pre-chilled glass (check out that lovely creamy texture!)
Add a couple of bitters to the glass.
And because it's a Mediterranean-inspired Gin Sour, add a sprig of fresh rosemary on top for garnish.
Sit back and enjoy your Gin Sour!
